Everything Oatmeal Cookies

Everything Oatmeal Cookies

A classic soft baked simple oatmeal cookie with not one, but many favorite goodies. Everything Oatmeal Cookies are filled with three types of chocolate, two kinds of raisins, cherries and nuts. Sure to please (and pleasantly surprise) all the oatmeal cookie lovers!

Oatmeal cookies are one of my favorite cookies. As a child oatmeal cookies tied snickerdoodles as my most requested cookie. But it was always difficult to choose between oatmeal raisin cookies or oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. My mom would make both, sometimes with raisins, sometimes with chocolate. I loved them both so much it was difficult to pick a favorite.

I bet many of you can sympathize. Chewy oatmeal cookie with sweet raisins or melty chocolate chips? What’s your favorite?

Good news! You don’t have to choose!

My mom created these Everything Oatmeal Cookies for my grandpa. My grandpa, PopPop, as he’s known to us, loves oatmeal cookies. He also loves the cherry chocolate combo (and who doesn’t?! Chocolate and cherry are a perfect pair.) He suffers from my same indecisiveness — raisins or chocolate??? And he loves nuts. So my mom thought — why not combine all his favorite flavors in one spectacular cookie?! And you know what? It’s delicious! I don’t know why we didn’t make it all along.

Oatmeal with chocolate (and not just semi sweet, white and dark chocolate too), raisins (classic and golden), dried cherries and pecans, equal the perfect Everything Oatmeal Cookie. Soft, chewy, sweet, a bit buttery and full of delicious chunks, every bite a new flavor sensation.

Everything Oatmeal Cookies are developed from the classic Quaker Oats Vanishing Oatmeal Cookie recipe. You know the one on the inside lid of the Old Fashioned Oatmeal. It really is the base for the perfect oatmeal cookie. Besides adding all the mix ins, I omit the cinnamon. With the flavors from the raisins, chocolate and nuts, cinnamon really isn’t needed. But if you want you can always add 1 teaspoon cinnamon to the cookie batter.

I hope you all enjoy my family’s adaption to Quaker’s oatmeal cookies. It’s the perfect cookie to serve at a party, bring to a pot luck, school function, or just to have in your cookie jar. They’re enjoyable with your morning (or afternoon) coffee, or a big glass of milk for dessert. They’re even a great cookie to leave out for Santa. My little ones always enjoy making extra special cookies for Santa.

The holiday season is officially upon us. It’s time for cookies, cakes, and special treats. What’s your favorite holiday dessert?
