Bring the comfort of a big family gathering into your home, every time you make this Traditional Southern Potato Salad. With classic ingredients like celery, eggs, mayonnaise and sweet pickles, it takes just like grandma made it.

  1. Add potatoes to a large pot pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until the potatoes are fork tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and let cool.
  2. Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks and chop the egg whites. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the egg yolks and mix with the mayonnaise, mustard, sweet pickle juice, salt and pepper.
  4. Add the potatoes, egg whites, pickles, celery and onion. Gently stir and chill.
  5. Sprinkle with a bit of paprika prior to serving.
Recipe Notes

*After everything is mixed together, taste and add additional salt and pepper if needed. Often I like to add a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper with the paprika, prior to serving. *My grandmother adapted this recipe from Best Foods (or Hellmann’s) Original Potato Salad.
